Centrepoint, which houses four fashion brands of Landmark Group under its umbrella, will hire approximately another 2,500 employees this year as it aims to open 25 new outlets this year, a senior company official said.“We are looking about 25 openings this year in the Gulf region, most of them in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait. Next year more openings will be in Qatar. We are involved in most of key developments (shopping malls) in GCC where Centrepoint will feature,” said Simon Cooper, Head of Centrepoint.
“We are half way through the opening of new stores. We have got a lot of store openings in May and June – particularly in Saudi Arabia,” Cooper told Emirates 24l7 during an interview at the launch of the Spring Collection. Out of 128 existing outlets, the group operates half of stores as standalone and others within shopping malls. In Dubai, it’s operating in shopping malls and operates independent outlets in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Ajman.
“Every store that opens, we create around 100 job opportunities… we continue to focus improving our existing brands under Centrepoint umbrella now as we have big choice for the customers.” Cooper said, adding that the group is also pushing towards its social media and other resources to reach its customer base. After its success in Dubai, the UAE-based billionaire Micky Jagtiani-owned Landmark Group’s subsidiary is also looking to develop shopping malls in Saudi Arabia similar its existing Oasis Mall project on Sheikh Zayed Road.
“We are also developing the Oasis Mall format in Saudi Arabia as well.”
